Day 1 (Sunday, April 13th)

PALM SUNDAY - THE TRIUMPHANT ENTRANCE

Matthew 21:1-11
New International Version

Chapter 21

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King

1 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:
5 “Say to Daughter Zion,
‘See, your king comes to you,
gentle and riding on a donkey,
and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’”[a]
6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. 8 A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,
“Hosanna[b] to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”[c]
“Hosanna[d] in the highest heaven!”
10 When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”
11 The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”
Devotional:
Palm Sunday marks Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The crowds welcomed Him with praise and palm branches, declaring Him as King. Yet Jesus entered not on a war horse but on a humble donkey, demonstrating that His kingdom comes not through force but through humility and peace. This entrance was the beginning of His final journey toward the cross—the ultimate expression of sacrificial love that would open the way to abundant life for all who believe.

Application:

Reflect on how you welcome Jesus into your life. Are there areas where you've kept Him at a distance? Consider the difference between welcoming Jesus on your terms versus accepting His humble, peace-bringing presence on His terms. Take time today to invite Jesus into every area of your life—your home, work, relationships, and even the hidden corners of your heart. Remember that His entrance brings not only joy and celebration but also transformation through His humble, servant leadership.

Declaration/Confession:
Today, I welcome Jesus as the King of my life. I recognize His authority and sovereignty over every aspect of my existence. Just as the crowds shouted "Hosanna," which means "save now," I declare my need for His saving presence. I choose to lay down my own agenda and welcome His peace-bringing, life-transforming presence. Like the palm branches laid before Him, I surrender my life as a pathway for His purpose. My heart cries, "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" into every situation I face today.
